What is the difference between RG6/U and RG6/U Quad Coxial Cable?

I am planning to replacing the TV cable wiring in an apartment building. The current cable is about 36 years old, and each unit will have its separate cable to the central meter room). The current cables cause poor TV reception (black out squares sometimes appears on the screen, and the screen freezes). The RG6/U Quad cable is 50% more expensive, my guess is that the quad has better insulation, but are there any other differences? The longest run from the meter room to the furthest apartment is about 100 feet. What are the advantages of each type of cable? What type of problems could I have by using the cheaper using RG6/U? Also is the Quad cable available in white or only in black?
Note; the coxial cable is also use for internet acces

Make sure you buy the coax and connectors at a Telecom supply store. Ask for "Belden" as it is very common and reliable.

Last time I looked - the quad shielded stuff was NOT 50% more so shop around.

Note that the "F" connectors are often different for the standard and quad shielded coax so make sure you buy the right connectors or you will be plagued with loose connectors for years.

Note: You might also want to run dual coax to each apartment because it is illegal to force the people to only have 1 choice in TV service. By federal law you have to allow them to subscribe to a sat service and put up a sat dish. (This is to prevent the cable company from becoming another monopolly like the old Pac Bell).

You can run a bundle of coax from the roof to the supply room so you can give each apartment a choice of CATV or one of the SAT wires. Use a barrel connector to connect each apartment to either a wire on the roof for a sat dish or the CATV service.
