I just started working at a hotel as a housekeeper part-time for extra cash. My first check was correct, but my second one is missing 2.5 hours. I write down and keep track of all my time. I asked for my time card because I wanted to make a copy but was told I couldn't make a copy of it. I was only allowed to write down my hours which matched my records. They insist they owe me nothing and scheduled me off for an extra day this week. What can I do and is it illegal to make copies of your own time card?
No, it's not illegal. Always keep a copy of your timecard for tax reasons.

Before you submit your next timecard, make a copy of it. You don't have to tell your employer.
If your copy and your next check don't match, then you can demand your pay.
Since you have proof of your time, you can even threaten legal action (should it come to that).
