One way multi-sided platforms solve this problem is by

operator incurs costs by serving all customer groups, it
often decides to lure one segment to the platform with
an inexpensive or free Value Proposition in order to
subsequently attract users of the platform’s “other side.”
One difficulty multi-sided platform operators face is
understanding which side to subsidize and how to price
correctly to attract customers.

The elevated work platforms come in two basic types; the scissor type, and the boom type. These two types usually have on-slab models for use on smooth, hard surfaces like
Pavements and concrete, and the rough-terrain models. The scissor types rely on hydraulic pistons and an expanding scissor mechanism for raising and lowering, and have extendable or rotating platforms. The boom types are raised and extended by hydraulic cylinders and have the ability to extend beyond the wheel base. Both these types need to be set on firm ground for stability purposes. Any slight instability or imbalance gets magnified when the machines are raised.
There are some obvious mistakes that workers make when using elevated platforms which put their lives in grave danger. It is advisable to always use the right machine for any particular job. Avoid using the on-slab machines on rough terrain as they will be very unstable. Don't use a scissor lift where a boom type is required and vice versa. Make sure every machine is used for its appropriate reach, height and lifting capacity, and do not lift any materials that overhang the platform. You should also avoid extending the platform with ladders, planks or other devices in case the machine can't reach the desired height.
There are several hazards associated with using these machines that would put the lives of workers in danger. The machine is at risk of tipping or overturning if you make sudden stops, when you are overreaching and when overloading therefore you should avoid all these. Watch out also for depressions and drop-offs which would destabilize the machine. In situations where the safety features are disarmed, the worker will not get the necessary tilt or level warning and might not be aware of the impending danger. Always confirm that all the safety features and warning lights are on and functional before using the machine.
When using an elevated work platform, you should also watch out for overhead power lines as contact with them can result in electrocution. The contact can be with the machine itself or the loads carried by the machine. You should also ensure that the work area is cordoned off so that the work platform is not hit by other construction equipment or oncoming traffic. Always lower the platform before moving the machine as any slight dips and drops become significant if the platform is still raised. You are also at risk of hitting other overhead structures in the air.
Elevated work platforms safety is very important and must be taken seriously by every worker, supervisor and employer. First thing is to ensure that the machines used have an operating manual and the machines are in good condition. The person operating the machine should also be competent and knowledgeable on the same. There are several safety regulations and standards set by the Australian government regarding the use of elevated work platforms and the workplace in general that must be followed strictly by everyone involved.
